Where Will Nomad Go Next?

We've been pretty overwhelmed with some news that Cafe Aroma, from whom we subleased Nomad’s first home, refuse to renew our lease, because they have "other plans for the space." We have to move out of our current space by July 31,2016. Which means we only have two more weeks to keep our doors open until we have to pack it in. We are truly heartbroken.
As we prepare to transition, our goal is to continue to serve our community, but we need your support. The Nomad Northwest dream is to promote a community and artists centered space. We offer an opportunity to over 80 local artists, many of whom are from Shoreline including our own Ridgecrest Neighborhood, to share their work with the community. We are striving to put Shoreline on the Map as an Indie Art Subset of Seattle proper. We have worked to build community by throwing big block parties, hosting classes for kids and adults, and attending and local events. We have supported local artists by giving them a place to be feature their art in a retail setting, build confidence, and by operating as a co-operative, we offer a higher commission than they would receive in other settings, and we enable them to participate in the management of the shop. We have supported other Shoreline businesses and organizations by teaming up with the LFP Gallery to organize events, networked with other small businesses, met fellow women entrepreneurs in Shoreline, and attended neighborhood involvement meetings. We cannot imagine our lives without this venture. We have put in countless hours and haven’t paid ourselves at all. We are a full time nanny and a full time stay at home mom. We have spent time developing handbooks, paying taxes, organizing events, scheduling, training new co-op members, scouting talent, hanging new art, painting the building, hanging signs, marketing online, spreading the word and working the shop hours to maintain regular shop hours 5 days a week. But this has been a labor of love. There is no other way we'd have it. This is our home. This is our community. We believe there is a need, and we felt we had started to fill it, with hopes to grow and change as dictated by our wonderful community at large. When we moved into our new space in July of 2015, Angela and myself worked night and day for 6 weeks to remodel this space a great deal on our own, and completely self- funded. We had volunteers dedicate countless hours to help demolish walls and subfloor, paint our walls, keep the front windows covered with fun displays while under construction and so much more. However, we used all of our money to get this project started—we did not expect to have to move so soon. So, to ensure we can keep doors open in Shoreline, as we transition out of our current home, and scout for the next amazing spot to serve you all, we need your help. Maybe there's something you've been eyeing at the shop: Why not lighten our load by buying that item now? Maybe you could use this time to get ahead on Christmas shopping, or birthday gifts. If you'd rather help in a different way, we'll be needing help to vacate and pack up, organize, give art back to its creator etc. If you would like to offer us a community grant to help us pay first/last and deposit on a new space, help us pay to renovate the new space (paint, shelves, walls, signs) we welcome any and all donations.
